The historic home industry in
New Orleans saw a boom in the 1990's
driven by high resale values
and easy credit. The market niche
for the operators of Historic Home
Recyclers was the restoration of
structurally unsound historic homes
near the New Orleans French Quarter
and Uptown. (See
photo resume) The
more structural work the historic
home needed the cheaper the cost and
the more we wanted to restore it.
This work gave us a depth of
knowledge and insight into load
distribution and restoration to
compliment the structure’s historic
character. On staff at Historic Home
Recyclers are Louisiana state
licensed Commercial Contractors and
state licensed Real Estate Agents.
We work closely with several local
engineers and real estate attorneys.
In 2005 after Katrina, the operators
of Historic Home Recyclers created
and still operate a modular home
company named Louisiana Modular,
LLC. (www.louisianamodular.com)
Louisiana Modular meets the needs of
people wanting an affordable house
in a matter of weeks. The modular
housing industry taught us a lot
about home component assembly. We
learned how to put a house on a
truck, build a foundation for an off
site structure and to crane install
house component parts to a
foundation.
We enjoy what we do, saving history
one house at a time. |
